'One third Indian pupil not happy with their education'

New Delhi:
One third of Indian students are not satisfied with the education
they receive, says a recent study.
In a survey conducted by the Career 360, one of the leading career
magazines in India, in collaboration with GfK Mode to rate the
status of Technical Education, it was found that one third of the
students were not satisfied with the education they received.
Nearly 38 per cent believed that they did not get great value for
the money they invested in their courses.
Academic infrastructure, fees, imprudent faculty and lack of will in
imparting practical education were some of the reasons which peeved
39 to 40 per cent of the respondents, the study observed.
'' As many as 41 per cent admit that they are completely dependent
on advertisements by the institutions to decide on the course and
campus and 71 per cent say they go by the ratings done by different
publications, whereas 51 per cent think that there is no point in
going by the institutions advice as most of the time they were
overstated,'' it said.
There were around 27 per cent people who felt that they did not make
good decision while choosing their career and the level of
discontent increased to 33 per cent when it came to their choice of
the institution.
However, engineering courses topped the list of most satisfactory
courses and management was at the bottom.
About 39 per cent expressed disgruntlement with the institute, but
as a course only 30 per cent were found to be let down.
Interestingly, despite all regrets only 29 per cent complained about
the institutions, they were reading in, and only 13 per cent opted
for the collective protest.
Around 49 per cent conceded that they did nothing except regretting.
