Lucknow: In a first, four Muslims have figured in the list of top ten rankers in the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) results of which were declared on Tuesday.

While Shams Mohammad Khan of Hardoi has topped the exam, Abu Asim of Azamgarh has secured the second position.
Similarly, Aaliya Zehra of Lucknow is ranked 4th whereas Mohammad Arshan Khan ranked 7th in the prestigious exam mandatory for admission to government medical colleges of the state.
Likewise, of the total 1353 successful students, about 400 are Muslims who have also cleared the exams.
Earlier, Tauheed Ahmed had created the history when he topped the CPMT exams held in 2008.
King George Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow, which had organised the CPMT 2014 examination on July 20 in 15 districts, announced exam results late night on July 28, a day before Eid.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced that the entire fee of the medical course of the top 5 rank holders of the CPMT 2014 exam will be paid by the state government. The announcement is taken as Eid gift for the Muslim toppers.
