Haj 2016: First flight from Kerala to take off on August 22

The first flight from Kerala for Haj this year will take off on August 22. The flights will continue till September first week with the last flight taking off from Kochi airport at 05:30 pm, officials said on Thursday.

"The first Haj flight from Kerala is scheduled to fly on 22nd August , 2016 at 1 pm from Kochi with a total of 300 pilgrims. There would be a total of 24 services .The last outward flight is on 5th September, at 5:30pm", Kerala State Haj Committee said in a statement.

"This year there would be total 10,500 pilgrims from Kerala who will perform Haj", the statement said.

As per the Return Flight schedule released by the Kerala State Haj Committee, First Inward Flight/ Returning Flight will reach Kochi from Medina by 3.45 pm on 29th September, 2016. The last inward flight is scheduled on 14th October.

"All the services would be maintained by Saudi Airlines", the statement said.

Kochi Embaraktion point covers pilgrims from Kerala, Lakshadweep and Mahe.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will conduct special services to Kozhikode, Ponnani and Malappuram.A joint meeting took place to finalize the program so that all the departments and authorities may work in coordiation and make the event smoooth and successful.

Uttar Pradesh Haj Committee has earlier released Haj flight schedule stating that the first fligh from the state will take off on August 10.

Nodal officials said adequate security and traffic arrangements have been made for the expected rush at the Haj House in the state capital, and all amenities for the pilgrims and those who will come to see them off have been put in place.

The Central Haj Commitee had earlier released guidelines for Haj pilgrims and allowed baggage. According to these guidelines, the committe decided to standardize thr baggage as anomalous and clumsy baggage is difficult to carry.

More than 1,10,000 Haj pilgrims from all across India will go to Makkah in Saudi Arabia through Haj Committee of India to perform the annual ritual which will fall this year in September.
