
Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood Star and sitting Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab Vinod Khanna dies in a hospital Thursday. He was 70.
Vinod Khanna was hospitalised in April first week due to severe dehydration but was later said to be stable and responding positively to treatment.
The hospital authorities refused to share the reasons for his demise.
Born on October 6, 1946 in a Punjabi family to Kamla and Kishanchand Khanna in Peshawar, Vinod studied commerce at Mumbai's Sydenham College before moving into acting.
Khanna was married to Geetanjali between 1971 and 1985 and has two sons with her, Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna. He married Kavita with whom he has two children, Sakshi and Shraddha.
He later joined politics and win the Lok Sabha elections as BJP candidate. He was Minister of State for Tourism and Culture in 2002.
The actor made his acting debut in 1968 with "Man Ka Meet" and went on to work in 141 films. He is best remembered for his performance in films like "Mere Apne", "Mera Gaon Mera Desh", "Amar Akbar Anthony", "Qurbani", "Dayavaan" , "Chandni" , "Insaaf" and "Jurm".
He was last seen in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Dilwale" in 2015.
