Allahabad: A 42-year-old teacher was on Saturday mercilessly beaten and later stabbed to death for resisting rape in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, local media reported.
42-year-old Rabiya Khatoon, a resident of Kotwali area of Pratapgarh district was employed as a teacher in a local English medium school. She was divorced and was living alone in a rented house while her family lived in Delhi.
On late Saturday night, six people barged into her house and tried to rape her. When she resisted and did not allow the accused to succeed in their attempt, they mutilated her legs and hands with iron rods and repeatedly stabbed her causing massive internal injuries.
After receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and took her to a government hospital in Pratapgarh. She was later shifted to Allahabad's SRN Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday morning.
According to the reports, the accused fled the spot after neigbours reached Rabiya's house following her her screaming. The neighbours found Rabiya soaked in blood with broken hands and legs swinging. The injuries on her body was so deep that flesh is visible.
SP Pratapgarh who is investigating the brutal murder, said two accused identified as Dabang Guddu Pasi and Madan Pasi have been arrested and assured the rest four accused will soon be in the custody.
