New Delhi: The Congress party Tuesday released a 29-page party manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections to be held in 07 phases starting from April 11, 2019.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, with Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi standing on his two sides, released the party manifesto at the party headquarters.

The party also launched a dedicated website to acces the Congress Manifesto for the 2019 elections. The manifesto is available for download in Hindi and English languages in PDF on the website.

The Congress manifesto is divided in 06 different sections titled Kaam, Daam, Shaan, Samman, Suhasan and Swabhiman.

By Kaam the party meant Employment and jobs, by Daam it meant an Economy That Works for All, by Shaan it meant Pride in the country's Hard and Soft Power, by Samman the party meant a life of dignity for all, by Suhasan Congress promises Good Governance Through Independent and Accountable Institutions and by Swabhiman the party meant self esteem for the deprived.

The manifesto also has a foreword written by Rahul Gandhi.

"Will India be a free and democratic country, and will the people of India be free from fear, free to live, work, pray, eat, love and marry according to their wishes; be free from poverty, and free to pursue their ambitions? Or will India be governed by a pernicious ideology that will trample upon people’s rights, our institutions, conventions and the healthy differences that are the essence of a multi-cultural country?" he wrote.

"I have personally been listening to people’s voices from all corners of our country. Every single word in the Congress manifesto reflects your voices and the aspirations of crores of Indians. It is an action plan for the future of India. You inspired this manifesto. It is a living manifesto. Now, it needs your support and your vote", he wrote.

"We will present a report to the people of India, every year, on the status of implementation of our manifesto. We will also set up an independent social audit group, which will make its own assessment of how and to what extent we have fulfilled our promises", he wrote by concluding, "This is our commitment. Congress promises. Congress delivers."

However , the BJP has raised objections over the promises made in the Congress manifesto calling them "dangerous and unimplementable". The BJP is especially upset with the Congress promise to abolish Sedition law, to reduce the presence of the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the Kashmir Valley and to review the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act and the Disturbed Areas Act in Jammu and Kashmir.
