Four Malegaon mohallas sealed after Coronavirus outbreak

The local police department had Wednesday announced total shutdown in the entire city from 12:00 pm Thursday to 09:00 am Friday

Malegaon: In a swift decision taken to control the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Malegaon Municipal Corporation (MMC) Thursday sealed four mohallas (areas) after the outbreak of new virus in the city.

The four mohallas of Malegaon that are sealed included Gulab Park, Mominpura, Madinabad and Kamalpura - all densely populated areas.

"The four mohallas of the city will be sealed for 14 days from today", MMC Commissioner Kishore Borode said.

"No one will be allowed to come out of these areas. People and residents from other areas will also not be allowed to enter into these areas", Borode said.

"The decision to seal Gulab Park, Mominpura, Madinabad and Kamalpura is taken after five people from these areas are found infected with the novel coronavirus", he said.

One of the five coronavirus positive persons died last night while the other four are under treatment at Malegaon General Hospital.

Private Hospital as quarantine centre

The local health department of Malegaon Corporation meanwhile is taking stock of the situation with renewed vigour after the outbreak of coronavirus in Malegaon.

The corporation had earlier also decided to use a private hospital near Malegaon-Manmad Chowfully to be used as quarantine centre in case of any emergency.
