5 test positive for Coronavirus in Malegaon, 1 dead

Malegaon: Five people have been tested positive for Coronavirus in Malegaon City of Nashik district in Maharahstra, health officials said Thursday.

"One of the five tested positive for Coronavirus died at Malegaon General Hospital Wednesday", Dr Kishor Dange, Health Officer Malegaon, told ummid.com.

"The man who died of Coronavirus is about 50 years of age and had went to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. He had returned about a month ago. He however did not inform the officials about his foreign journey", Dr Dange said.

"The deceased was admitted to the Malegaon General Hospital on Tuesday and succumbed to the deadly virus on the next day", Dr Dange said.

"We have quarantined four sons of the deceased. Efforts are also on to identify those who might have been in contact with him", Dr Dange said.

"The other four who have been tested positive for Coronaviurs are members of Tablighi Jamaat. They are being treated at Malegaon General Hospital", Dr Dange said.

"One among the four tested positive for Coronavirus is 16 year old", he said.

Earlier, two members of Tablighi Jamaat from Malegaon were found positive for novel Coronavirus in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.

The Malegaon Tablighi Jamaat Markaz refused to confirm or deny the reports of its members being tested positive for the deadly disease. However the Jamaat said a group of its members are in Bulandshahr.

In March, as many as 10 Corona suspects were admitted at the Malegaon General Hospital. But, the reports of all of them confirmed they are Coronavirus negative.

According to local health department, as many as 133 residents of Malegaon were monitored after their return to the city from abroad. Some of them were advised self-isolation and self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

Medical investigation conducted on them after 14-day self-isolation period confirmed that they were not infected by the virus.
