Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continues to celebrate its centenary year by getting its academic credentials recognised both at international and national levels.
The prestigious university has now been placed sixth among Indian universities and 22nd in all Indian educational institutions by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2020.
Started in 2012, Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) independently measure a university’s quality of education and training of students, as well as the prestige of their academic staff members and the quality of their research, without relying on reputational surveys and university data submissions.
"CWUR, a leading consulting organization providing policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities has ranked AMU on the basis of different variables that measure academics, citations, international collaboration and publications", Professor Salim Beg, Chairman, University Ranking Committee, said.
"It is a moment of satisfaction for the whole AMU fraternity", said AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor while congratulating faculty members and students for securing the top ranks.
Prof Mansoor added that the remarkable success, which has come due to the collective and sustained efforts of teachers and students, continues to raise the status of the University in India and abroad.
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was placed at 31st spot in India by QS World University Rankings 2021 released in June.
Similarly, AMU registered a significant jump in Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings that placed the university at the 2nd position among Indian universities in the Physical Sciences category, excluding the premier Indian technology institutes.
