Mumbai, Ahmedabad among 10 Coronavirus hotspots in India

The identification of these places as Coronavirus hotspots will help ramp up the testing process

New Delhi: As the number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases surge in India, the government has reportedly identified 10 "hotspots" where higher viral transmission has been detected.

The coronavirus hotspots that have emerged across the country are Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin in Delhi, Noida and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Bhilwara in Rajasthan, Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Kasargod and Pathanamthitta in Kerala, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra.

The identification of these places as Coronavirus hotspots will help ramp up the testing process.

Delhi's Nizamuddin has emerged as a hotspot after nearly 1,800 people had assembled at the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz building for Ijtema - a religious congregation, on March 13 t0 15, 2020.

The area has witnessed 24 positive cases alone, while many others have been reported positive in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other states.

Rajasthan's Bhilwara town, situated 250 km from Jaipur, also continues to remain a hotbed of coronavirus infection.

43 new Corona cases in Maharashtra in 24 hours

Maharashtra on the other hand continues to be the worst affected state in India with Mumbai and Pune cities being identified as Corona hotbed.

The state reported 43 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the state's total infection to 302.

Of the new corona positive cases detected today, Mumbai reported the highest number.

Gujarat Coronavirus cases jump further

Gujarat on Tuesday, reported 03 more Corona positive cases, the health authorities said, taking the total detected positive Corona virus cases in the state to 73, including 6 deaths.

"On Tuesday, three more positive cases have been found, all of them getting infected locally. An Ahmedabad male (55) and aA Gandhinagar female (32) both admitted in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospital in Ahmedabad. Another positive case is registered in Rajkot, a male (28) admitted in Christ hospital", Jayanti Ravi, the principal secretary, Health and family welfare Department, Gujarat said.

Gujarat Corona virus deaths Districtwise

The highest number of cases detected is in Ahmedabad - 24, followed by Rajkot and Gandhinagar both 10 each, Surat and Vadodara having 9 each, Gir-Somnath with 2 positive and one each in Porbandar, Mahesana and Kutch.

Out of the 73 positive cases, 32 had a foreign travel history, two had inter-state travel and 37 are locally transmitted disease victims.

So far, six deaths have been reported in Gujarat due to the Corona virus infection. First case was that of a 67-year-old male from Surat with comorbid conditions.

On March 25 night an 85-year-old female from Ahmedabad died also due to comorbid conditions. A 70-year-old male from Bhavnagar with a travel history of Delhi, succumbed to corona virus on the next day.

Three more deaths were reported on March 28 and 29 and Monday, a male (47) and female (46) from Ahmedabad and a female (45) from Jesar block in Bhavnagar, respectively. All the deceased patients were suffering from comorbid conditions like diabetes, hypertension, cardiac ailments and other several complications.

Meanwhile, the number of positive cases in India has crossed 1,200 mark and the death toll stands at 35.
