More than 2.5 million Muslims from different parts of the world offered Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Haram in Makkah Friday Ramadan 27, 1445 H that coincided with the Laylat al Qadr.

Makkah: More than 2.5 million Muslims from different parts of the world offered Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Haram in Makkah Friday Ramadan 27, 1445 H that coincided with the Laylat al Qadr.

Laylat al Qadr, also known as Shab e Qadr in the Indian subcontinent, is one of the nights during the last ten days of Ramadan – the holy month of fasting. It is believed that Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) over 1400 years ago in this blessed night.

“The night of al Qadr is better than a thousand months”, Quran says describing the virtues of Lalylat al Qadr.

Masjid Haram in Makkah was full to its capacity on Friday April 05, 2024 as Umrah pilgrims thronged the sacred mosque to offer Taraweeh – special night prayers of Ramadan.

Prayers for Palestine, al Aqsa

President of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, Abdur Rahman as Sudais led the prayers as millions from around the world stood in supplication.

Hundreds of thousands around the world watched live broadcast of the Taraweeh prayers from Masjid Haram in Makkah as As Sudais prayed for world peace and the freedom from the shackles of the Zionist Masjid Aqsa in Occupied Jerusalem.

“Oh Allah, Grant victory to our brothers in Palestine and free them from the occupation of the Jewish Oppressors”, Sudais said and Muslims said Aamen.

“Oh Allah, protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from the aggression of the aggressors, and grant us a prayer in it before death”, Sudais prayed.

20 mn pray at Prophet’s Mosque

Meanwhile, official data released by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque said about 20 million people pray at Prophet's Mosque in the first 20 days of Ramadan.

"A total of 19,899,991 worshippers and visitors were received, with significant numbers of them visiting key sites within the Masjid Nabawi", it said.

A total of 1,643,288 individuals visited the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) tomb, and Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa welcomed 655,277 visitors, with a balanced distribution of male and female visitors.

The authority has made considerable efforts to cater to the needs of different groups; for instance, 50,820 older individuals benefited from specially designated sites.

Meanwhile, preparations are also on in Saudi Arabia to spot the Eid al Fitr Moon 2024. According to sources, Eid al Fitr moon sighting in the Kingdom will be held on Monday April 08, 2024.

Eid al Fitr marks the end of Holy Month of Fasting, Ramadan.
