Malegaon: In a sensational case of abduction and brutal murder of 7-yr-old Malegaon teen, Mohammad Kaif, local Police Wednesday January 17, 2024 arrested the accused whose identity has been withheld.
Mohammad Kaif, a resident of S No 42, Naya Islampura in Ramzanpura area of Malegaon, went missing on January 07, 2024. His father, Mohammed Ilyas, tried his best to trace his only son, first with the help of family friends and later with the help of social workers.
Failing to get any information, he finally lodged a missing complaint on January 08, 2024 at Aisha Nagar Police Station, Malegaon.
Chilling details
The Aisha Nagar Police launched a massive hunt to trace the missing teenager. With the help of Gumshuda Bachchon ki Talash - a social group which helps parents to trace missing children, and others scanned the CCTV recordings of the nearby areas.
Hundreds of posters with the images of Mohammad Kaif were circulated on social media and through public transport systems. Alert messages were also sent in whole of the Nashik district and other places. These efforts however failed to yield any result.
In a tragic twist in the case, Chandwad Police Tuesday discovered dead body of a child. The dead body was found deep under the Rahod Ghat, also famous as Chandwad Ghat. Eyewitnesses who reached there said it required about 8-km long walk to get to the spot.
The Chandwad Police informed the Malegaon Police Department. The Malegaon Police officials led by Additional SP Aniket Bharti rushed to the spot. Missing Mohammad Kaif’s father, Mohd Ilyas, was also called there. He later identified the dead body and confirmed that it was of his son's.
The local police officials said, preliminary investigations indicated that Mohammad Kaif was abducted and then murdered.
“We have arrested one person based on certain clues. Further investigation in the case is underway”, Malegaon ASP Aniket Bharti told the media without giving more details.
Confession?
The Malegaon Police late afternoon Wednesday produced the accused in the local court which granted him Police Custody.
Meanwhile, talking to local media, Malegaon Central MLA Mufti Ismail Qasmi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) claimed that the accused has confessed to his crimes, without revealing his identity.
Different WhatsApp groups however are flooded with posts revealing not only the identity of the accused but also his images.
The Police has so far not revealed the exact motive behind the kidnaping and brutal murder of the 7-yr-old teen. In the absence of official version, the powerloom city is abuzz with different conspiracy theories.
