It remains unclear whether the issue was resolved amicably between the two parties or if local police had to intervene, according to Free Press Journal.
The media reports have claimed those who created ruckus in the society were members of the right wing Hindu extremist group Bajrang Dal.
Muslims in Mira Road and other parts of Mumbai and India will celebrate Eid al Adha on Monday June 17, 2024.
Mira Road, a beautiful cosmopolitan city in Mumbai Suburbs, since last few years has become a hot bed of communal politics of the right wing groups supported by the ruling party.
A similar incident was reported in Mira Road two days before Eid al Adha last year too. The incident was reported in Jaypee Infra Society, Vinay Nagar when the society barred the Muslim flat owners from sacrificing lambs.
A police case was also lodged after the incident last year. However, it is unclear what action was taken against those who tried to disturb peace ahead of the Muslim festival.
Simmering tension between the communities turned into a major riot in January this year when hundreds of Hindus on cars and motorbikes holding saffron flags and raising provocative slogans passed through the Muslim dominated Naya Nagar area of the suburban city a day before Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya.
The town was under curfew and prohibitory orders for days after the January 2024 riots.
