Pune: In order to allay the students’ concerns, the Maharashtra CET Cell is considering to allow them to verify their answer sheets (OMR Sheets) with the official answer keys.
Talking to the media Saturday, Maharashtra CET Cell Commissioner Dilip Sardesai said there is an atmosphere of panic among the students regarding the MHT CET results. To address the concerns of the students, the CET Cell is considering verification of OMR sheets.
“The CET Cell is considering a proposal to let the students compare their answers with the answer key over a two day-period, June 27 and 28, 2024”, Sardesai said.
He also said that the facility could be available for the candidates after completing the technical formalities.
The Maharashtra CET Cell said that it had received complaints about the MHT CET 2024 scores from around 200 students and resolved all their grievances.
The CET Cell Commissioner called the press conference after some students alleged irregularities in MHT CET 2024 results, and standing on behalf of senior Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray demanded stay on admission counselling.
MHT CET is conducted online (computer based test) by the Maharashtra CET Cell for admission in first year engineering, medical, pharmacy and other undergraduate courses.
While MHT CET PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) score is used for admission in engineering, MHT CET PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) score is used for admission in medical, pharmacy and paramedical courses.
A total of 725,052 candidates from Maharashtra and outside had registered for this year's entrance for PCM and PCB both.
Of them, 675,377 students - 295,577 in PCM and 379,80 in PCB, appeared for the exams held in April / May, 2024.
MHT CET Answer Key was published on May 21. The result along with Toppers/Merit List was announced on June 16, 2024.
The candidates now alleged that there were serious discrepancies in the MHT CET 2024 Answer Keys and the entrance test result.
Standing on behalf of the students, senior Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray while referring to 54 errors in question papers identified by students, questioned the competence of those responsible for the conduct of the exam.
Thackeray also demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the exam and suspension of the commissioner of the CET cell.
Thackeray also demanded a temporary stay on the admission and counselling process till the issue is resolved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra CET Cell is yet to publish the MHT CET Engineering, Medical and Pharmacy counselling schedule for the year 2024-25.
The CET cell normally starts CAP based admission counselling soon after the MHT CET results are announced. The CET Cell however is so far silent of the counselling dates.
