Ramadan 2024 Moon Announcement Live Update: Ramadan, the Holy Month of Fasting, begins in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and most of the Arab and Middle East countries Monday March 11, 2024.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) has also announced the start of Ramadan from Monday March 11, 2024.

Wifaqul Ulama (UK) is expected to confirm the start date of Ramadan shortly. The Moon committees in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries will confirm tomorrow i.e. Monday March 11, 2024 the beginning of Ramadan.

06:30 PM (Makkah Time): The New Moon of the Month of Ramadan 1445 H (Ramadan 2024) has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, Haramain Sharifain said.

"The Crescent of Ramadan 1445/2024 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, Ramadan 1445/2024 begins tomorrow, 11 March 2024", it said.

The Haramain Sharifain further said that the Taraweeh Prayers will be offered at Masjid al Haram in Makkah, Masjid an Nabawi in Madinah and other mosques of the Kingdom from today i.e. Sunday March 10, 2024.

"Taraweeh Prayers will begin in the Two Holy Mosques after Isha Prayers today", it said.

List of countries which have confirmed Ramadan 2024 Date

Meanwhile, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United States, Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei have also announced the start of Ramadan from Monday March 11, 2024.

"Tomorrow, March 11, 2024 will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Qatar", The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar announced Sunday.

"The crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan was sighted today in the country", the Committee said.

The Moon-sighting committee in UAE also said the Crescent Moon — which signals the start of a month in the Islamic Hijri Calendar — was spotted on Sunday (March 10) evening.

"Accordingly, Taraweeh prayers will start from today and the fasting for the Holy Month of Ramadan will commence from Monday March 11, 2024", it said.

06:15 PM (Makkah Time): Tumair Observatory has announced no sighting of the Ramadan Moon today. Confirmation is awaited from other Observatories.

The density of the clouds so far makes the search for the Ramadan difficult in almost all observatories, it is officially stated.

05:00 PM (Makkah Time): Even as hundreds of thousands of Muslims from around the world are waiting for the confirmation of Ramadan 2024 Moon, local media reports said most of the Kingdom's observatories are now witnessing a dusty atmosphere.

"The Sighting of the crescent Moon of Ramadan may be difficult with the clouds and dust and tomorrow 'could' complete the 30th of Sha'ban", Al Akhbariya staffer reporting from Tumair observatory said.

Meanwhile, Chief Astronomer Abdullah Al-Khudair has arrived at the Majmaah University Astronomical Observatory in Sudair and is monitoring the preparation for moon sighting.

Upon his arrival in Sudair, Al Khudair said, "In light of this atmosphere, it is difficult to see the crescent of Ramadan from the Majmaah University Astronomical Observatory, Sudair."

02:00 PM (Makkah Time): Saudi Arabia is set to confirm the exact Ramadan Start Date today i.e. Sunday March 10, 2024 by 06:15 PM Makkah Time.

The Saudi Observatory in Sudair said that based on the scientific calculations made by the Observatory on Sunday 29 Shaaban (March, 10th 2023), the sunset will occur in at 6:04 pm and the crescent will disappear at 06:15 PM.

Accordingly, the Ramadan Moon Sighting announcement will be likely by 06:15 PM.

Sudair and Tumair are the Kingdom’s main observatories, and sightings of the new moon from the two observatories are part of the official decision.

10:00 AM (Makkah Time): The Saudi Royal Court will meet after Maghrib Salah today i.e. Sunday March 10, 2024 to take stock of moon sighting reports if any and confirm the exact date to start fasting of the month of Ramadan.

02:00 AM (Makkah Time): Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Turkey, Jordan and other Arab states in the Middle East will sight the Ramadan 2024 Moon (Ramadan Moon Sighting 1445) today i.e. Sunday March 10, 2024 and confirm the holy of the Holy Month of Fasting.

Ramadan Moon Sighting 2024 in Saudi Arabia

The Royal Court of Saudi Arabia has issued an appeal to all Muslims in the Kingdom to spot the crescent, the Ramadan Moon, today i.e. Sunday 29th Sha'ban 1445 H, corresponding to March 10, 2024.

In a request to local residents, the Saudi Supreme Court said:

“Whoever sights the crescent by naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register his testimony, or report to the authority of the region’s center in his area where he sighted the crescent to facilitate his reaching to the nearest court."

Similar appeals to sight the Ramadan 2024 Moon have also been made by the religious affair ministeries and moon sighting committees in United Arab Emirate (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine, Muscat, Egypt, Turkey, Yemen, Oman and other states in the Middle East, and also in the countries like the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Ramadan Moon Sighting USA, UK

Notable among them are the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Qatar, Ministry of Religious Affairs UAE, Wifaq ul Ulama UK, Australian National Imams Council, the Fiqh Council of North America, French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), Majils Ugama Islam Singpaore - they have all appealed to the people living in the respective countries and areas to sight the Ramadan 2024 moon and report to them.

Muslims across the world sight the new moon on every 29th of the month as per the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The appeals to sight the Ramadan Moon has also been issued as per the following of the The Prophet (PBUH).

If the Crescent Moon is spotted on 29th, the prevailing month ends and the new month begin on the next day. However, if the Moon is not spotted on 29th, the next day is counted as the 30th day of the prevailing month and the new month starts a day later.

Ramadan 2024 Start Date

Accordingly, Ramadan 2024 fasting in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other Arab states and Middle East countries will commence on Monday March 11, 2024 if the new moon is spotted in the Kingdom today.

In case the Ramadan Moon is not sighted today then Monday will be the 30th day of Shaban 1445 AH and the Holy Month of fasting will start on Tuesday March 12, 2024.

Ramadan Moon Sighting India, Pakistan

Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries will spot the Ramadan Moon on Monday March 11, 2024.

Similarly, Muslims in the United States (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, France, Germany and other countries too will start fasting of Ramadan either on Monday March 11 or Tuesday March 12, 2024.

The final decision will be taken on Sunday March 10, 2024 by the Moon Sighting Committees operating in these countries.
