New Delhi: The Congress Party Saturday released its 4th list for the 2024 Parliamentary elections which has among others the names of Kunwar Danish Ali and Imran Masood as the party candidates.
Danish Ali has been fielded from the Amroha Parliamentary Seat whereas Imran Masood will contest as the Congress candidates from the Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Danish Ali is a graduate from the prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi. He is a sitting MP from the Amroha seat.
Dalish Ali began his political journey by joining Janata Dal (Secular). He switched to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) following an understanding between the two parties ahead of the 2019 General Elections. Danish Ali won the 2019 LS Polls defeating the BJP candidate by over 63,000 votes.
Danish Ali was leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the Lok Sabha. In September last year, he was verbally abused by a BJP MP in the Lok Sabha. The incident created a huge row but the BSP did not support Danish Ali.
On the other hand, Danish received support from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who even went to former’s home in solidarity. This angered the BSP which suspended him from the party.
Danish Ali later joined the Congress and will now contest the 2024 General Elections from his home seat Amroha as Congress candidate.
Imran Masood is the former MLA from Muzzafarabad seat (now Behat Seat) in Saharanpur District of Uttar Pradesh.
Imran Masood had contested the 2014 and 2019 General Elections, but lost in both.
With the inclusion of two more Muslims in its 4th list, the Congress has confirmed 22 Muslims who will contest for the 2024 General Elections on the party ticket.
The Congress had included the names of 02 Muslims each in its first list released on March 08 and the second list released on March 12, 2024, and 06 Muslims in the 3rd list.
