Eid al Adha 2025 Moon Sighting Live Update: Eid Al Adha this year will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain on Friday June 06, 2025, it has been officially confirmed by the authorities in the respective countries.

Oman, Indonesia, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, France, Philippines, Thailand, Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia, and Australia also announced to mark the first day of Eid Al Adha on June 6, 2025.

On the other hand, Pakistan, Brunei, Afghanistan, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, and Malaysia announced June 07, 2025 to be the first day of Eid al Adha.

India, Bangladesh and other South Asian coutries will confirm today the date of Eid al Adha.

07:15 PM (Makkah Time): Eid al Adha will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on Friday June 06, 2025, the Saudi Royal Court announced based on sighting of the Dhul Hijjah Moon in the Kingdom today i.e. Tuesday May 27, 2025.

Accordingly, Day of Arafah, observed on 9th of Dhul Hijjah, will be on Thursday June 05, 2025.

"The Dhul Hijjah 1446 Crecent was SEEN today in Saudi Arabia. Acordingly, Eid al Adha will be celebrated on Friday June 06, 2025. Day of Arafah will be on Thursday June 05, 2025. Guests of Rahman will stand in Arafah on Thursday, 5 June 2025", the announcement said.

Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and other Arab states also announced to celebrate Eid al Adha on Friday June 06, 2025.

06:30 PM (Makkah Time): The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan has said Eid al Adha will be celebrated on Saturday June 07, 2025.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after its meeting in Islamabad today said there is no confirmed report of Dhul Hijj Moon Sighting from any part of the country today.

"Accordingly, tomorrow will be 30th Dhu Al Qaadah and the month of Zil Hijj will start on Thursday May 29, 2025. Eid al Adha will be celebrated on June 07, 2025", the Committee said.

A forma announcement from Saudi Arabia is likely by 07:00 PM Makkah Time.

06:00 PM (Makkah Time): A meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is now underway in Islamabad, Pakistan to confirm the Dhul Hijjah Moon Sighting and decide the date of Eid al Adha.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states including UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan will announce the Dhul Hijjah Moon sighting soon after the sun set or after Maghrib salah.

On the other hand, India and Bangladesh will announce Wednesday May 28, 2025 the sighting of Dhul Hijjah Moon in the respective countries.

04:00 PM (Makkah Time): The Saudi officials have started arriving at Sudair and Tumair observatories for Dhul Hijjah 1446 H Moon Sighting.

A formal announcement from Saudi Arabia is expected by 07:00 PM Makkah Time.

Meanwhile, Saudi Stock Market has announced Eid al Adha Holidays. In a circular it said, the Saudi Stock Market will be closed from June 5 to 10, 2025 on the account of Eid al Adha.

Oman has officially announced Eid al Adha Holiday from June 5 to 9, 2025 for all private and public sector.

02:00 PM (Makkah Time): The two Saudi observatories in Sudair and Tumair are gearing up to spot the Dhul Hijjah 1446H Moon Tuesday to confirm the exact date of Eid al Adha and Hajj 2025 day.

Weather forecast here predicts clear sky making the new moon, if born, visible easily and with the naked eyes.

Moon sighting committees and religious authorities in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Palestine and other Arab countries are also preparing to sight the Eid al Adha Moon Tuesday. The official confirmation regarding the moon sighting is likely by 06:30 PM Makkah Time.

Meanwhile, Central Ruyat e Hilal Committee in Pakistan is also meeting today to spot the Dhul Hijjah Moon and confirm the Bakra Id or Eid Azha in Pakistan.

12:00 AM (Makkah Time): The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia and the Moon Sighting Committees in United Arab Emirate (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine and other Arab states have appealed Muslims to spot the new moon of the Holy month of Dhul Hijjah today i.e. Tuesday 29th of Dhu al-Qadah 1446 AH, corresponding to May 27, 2025, to confirm the date and time of Eid al Adha 2025, and Hajj 2025 and Arafat Day.

"The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called upon residents of the Kingdom to search for the crescent of the month of Dhul Hijjah 1446 H on the evening of Tuesday, 29 Dhul Qadah 1446 H, corresponding to May 27, 2025 and report to any sightings", the Saudi Royal Court said in a statement.

Special arrangements have been made and general appeals have also been issued by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE - mainly Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Qatar, Iraq and other Gulf states including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Muscat, Oman, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and Palestine to sight the Eid al Adha Moon today on Tuesday 29th Dhul Qadah 1446H of the Islamic Calendar which corresponds to 27th of May 2025.

Eid al Adha Moon 2025 sighting

The Saudi Supreme Court’s special session will meet and analyse today on Tuesday evening the results of the Eid ul Azha Crescent search and will issue a decision shortly after Maghreb Prayers.

The Kingdom’s main observations are made from Sudair and Tumair and sightings from these cities are part of the official decision.

Eid al Adha (also known as Bakra Eid, Eid uz Zuha in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and around), is celebrated across the world on 10th of Dhul Hijjah - the month revered as one of the holiest months is Islamic calendar.

Two Possibilities

The new moon sighting today i.e. Tuesday May 27, 2025, means the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH is commenced on Wednesday May 28, 2025.

Accordingly, Eid al Adha, which is celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah, will be observed on June 06, 2025.

If there is no moon sighting today, the next day will be counted as the 30th day of Dhu al Qadah, and the new month of Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 29, 2025. In such a situation, Eid al Adha, will be celebrated on June 07, 2025.

Traditionally, the Eid al Adha festival lasts for four days but public holidays vary from country to country.

Hajj 2025 Date (Arafat 2025 Day)

Accordingly, Youm e Arafat 2024 (Youme Arafah or Hajj Day), which falls on 9th of Dhul Hijjah, will be either on June 05 or June 06, 2025.

Youm e Arafat (Youme Arafah) is 9th day of Dhul Hijjah when millions of Muslims from across the world gather on the plains of Mount Arafat to perform Hajj. As per the Saudi Haj and Umrah Ministry, around 2 million Muslims from around the world will perform Hajj this year.

The Saudi government has made unprecedented arrangement to make Hajj journey of the pilgrims hassle-free. The Kingdom has also deployed online services to make Hajj tour of the pilgrims a journey of lifetime.

About Eid al Adha

Hajj and Eid al Adha (also known as Bakra Eid, Eid ul Azha and Eid uz Zuha in the Indian subcontinent) are celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim, his noble wife Hager and their son Prophet Ismael (peace be upon all of them).

In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries the Moon Sighting Committees, Hilal Committees and Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Tuesday May 27, 2025 or Wednesday May 28, 2025 as per the date of Islamic Calendar in these countries to decide on the sighting of the Dhul Hajjah Moon.

Similarly, Muslims in the United States (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, France, Germany and other countries too will celebrate Eid al Adha either on June 06 or June 07, 2025.

Decision on Muslim festivals Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha is based on lunar system. As per this system, the first day of a new month is decided if moon is sighted on 29th day of the preceding month. In case the moon is not sighted, the month is counted for whole of 30 days.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Palestine and other Arab countries have already announced Eid al Adha holidays.

According to the UAE’s approved holiday calendar, Eid Al Adha holiday will be four days starting from June 04 to June 09, 2025 that could be extended till June 10, 2025 if the cabinet approves, local media reported.
