Muslims need political awareness: Mahmood Madni

Sunday, November 08, 2009 10:10:42 PM, IANS

New Delhi: Instead of launching a political party, the Muslims must become politically aware and vote for those who work for their welfare, Maulana Mahmood Madni, general secretary of Jamiat-Ulema-i-Hind said Friday.

"I think that for Muslims the best way to get their due share in development and growth of the country is to become politically aware and vote for those who work for them. Launching a political party is not the solution," Madni told IANS.

Madni, a Rajya Sabha MP said that the challenges facing the community will be discussed and debated intensively at the the three-day convention of over 10,000 Muslim clerics at Deoband beginning Nov 1.

Madni also said that there will be intensive debates on issues like the Central Madrassa Board, implementation of the Sachar Committee report on the state of Muslims in India and the framing of false cases against Muslim youth in terrorism-related incidents.

The conference is also expected to pass a resolution seeking a ban on "unnatural sex" and against the Delhi High Court's recent nod to homosexuality.

International issues such as Palestine and US intervention in Afghanistan will also be discussed.

Mr. Madani has actually put his personal agenda of not openly going against the ruling Congress Party. It does not mean that he to be proven wrong. There are Issues with Muslim component in Our country and that they need to addressed with a great amount of care and sensitivity. Discussions are plans of action but not the action. What we really need now is an action and that action needs to be initiated by an ACTION. Today We need to tell the Govt. and Authorities, the Bureaucrats and so called administration insiders, that The they can not Isolate the 200 million strong Muslim portion out of the mainstream. Our voices are Unheard and if heard somewhere then neglected very smartly. The burning issues of Socio economic reforms for the muslim community , have absolutely been sabotaged. Its Good to read about Palestine. But Where is the oppose of 200 millions to the deepening nexus of Indo-Israel phenomena. Can we stand against the Israeli penetration in very much our own country Mr, Madni.
