Zakat Foundation, a relief and development charity
organization based in America
has come forward in a large way to help the flood hit people of
North Karnataka. It distributed 2.25 lakhs worth Food Grain
packages, hygiene packages and medicine for the survivors of the
flood victims in North Karnataka, said President of Affus Woman
Welfare Association (AWWA) Mrs. Farida Khan.
AWWA is coordinating the relief work
of the Zakat Foundation for the flood hit people in Andhra Pradesh.
The foundation
reached out to more than 250 families (each Family five members)
in villages of Navalgund Taluk in Dharwad District and Ron Taluk in
Gadag District in North Karnatka,informed Mrs.Farida.
Free
food parcels each weighting 21 kg parcel containing 15kg rice, 2kg
dal,2kg wheatflour,1kg sugar, oil one liter were distributed by the
foundation as relif to the flood affected victims in North karnataka.
As the flood
created havoc across the state, Zakat Foundation took upon itself
the challenge to be with the people at the time of disaster and
need, said Mrs. Khan.
Zakat Foundation
distributed food grains in Navalgund Taluka in Dharwad district and
Ron Taluka in Gadag district severely affected by the flood where
many people were homeless. Food Grains supplied by Zakat
Foundation was sufficient to feed their families for 15 days, said
Mrs. Khan.
The foundation
distributed the best quality food grains to the victims for two
continuous days with Packed nutritious food Grains. This benefited
more than 1250 victims in the worst flood hit areas of Navalgund
Taluka in Dharwad district and Ron Taluka in Gadag District.
Affus Woman Welfare Association (AWWA)
has appealed to the people across the country to extend a helping
hand for the people hit by the flood.
