Mumbai: Two minors and a medical student are suspected to have committed suicide here, sending shock waves across the city Monday.

A 20-year old medical student, whose identity was not immediately known, was found dead in her flat at Chaitanya Nagar in the upmarket Powai area of north-west Mumbai, police said, adding that prelimanary investigations suggest it could be a suicide even though no note was found at the spot.

The girl, a first year medical student of D.Y. Patil College in Navi Mumbai, had reportedly failed in two subjects in her recent term examinations, police added.

The body was discovered by her parents. No suicide note was recovered from the site, police said.

In another incident, the body of 13-year old Sushant Eknath Patil, a student of class VII at the prestigious Shardashram Boys High School in Dadar West, was found hanging in the school toilet.

In this case too, police suspect suicide as Sushant had failed in some subjects in his mid-term exams.

“Yes, the incident has happened in the boys’ secondary section of the school,” an official of the school said.

Soon after, there were reports that 11-year old Neha Sawant allegedly committed suicide at her home in Dombivli after her parents refused to allow her to participate in a television dance reality show.
