Aligarh: Fawaz Shaheen, a student of BALLB (Fourth Year) at the Aligarh Muslim University participated in the National Youth Parliament event organized by the Times Now and The Times of India.
Fawaz Shaheen brilliantly made a portrayal of metropolitan English-speaking fashionable youngsters as the "youth" of India.
He highlighted the illegal arrests of the innocent Muslim youth in false terror cases, sidelining of the Dalit voices, issues before the youth of small towns etc.
He strongly argued that as a society, India has failed to address issues facing marginalized section of society.
He protested against the criminal silence on atrocities meted out to tribals, minorities, dalits, poor etc and pointed out youths' disenchantment, depleting values, contents in Students' Union Elections and other students' related issues.
He, however, made it clear that the society itself is to blame and not the politicians for maladies in Indian polity.
The event known as "I Lead India" is an initiative which intends to engage youth in the democratic process and seeks to provide them a platform to ask questions to the political class and demand their accountability in their process of Policy framing.
The complete recording of the event will be telecast on Saturday, 12th October 2013 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Times Now television channel. The repeat telecast will be made on Sunday, 13th October from 11 am to 1 pm and again in the evening from 7 pm to 9 pm.
