Hyderabad: Heera Gold Managing Director and Founder President of the All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP) on Monday said her arrest is a conspiracy hatched by her rivals to stop her from fielding candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Telagana.
"The arrest of my client is based on political vendetta. It is a conspiracy hatched against her to prevent her from participating in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections", Defence lawyer said during the hearing in the case Monday.
He further told the court that majority of investors still have faith in Heera Gold Group.
"As the result of the false propaganda spread by her rivals, their rights could get affected", he said adding that the so called panic among the depositors is the result of the false propaganda by AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi.
The allegations against Owaisi has some ground as Shahbaz Khan, the key person who has been mobilising support against Nowhera Shaikh since last more tha two years, is said to be closely associated with Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen or MIM. In video posts shared on social media, Shahbaz Khan makes it sure that the images of Asaduddin Owaisi and his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi is prominently visible in the background.
The court was hearing the plea filed by Central Crime Station (CCS) Hyderabad seeking police custody of Nowhera Shaikh. The CCS Hyderabad wants Nowhera Shaikh's custody for further interrogations in the case. On the other hand, the defence lawyers also submitted Nowehra Shaikh's bail application.The court reserved its verdict till Tuesday October, 24, 2018.
Nowhera Shaikh was arrested from New Delhi on October 15 - just two days after she announced that the All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP) she founded ahead of Karnataka Assembly elections 2018 will field candidates on all 119 seats.
Political observers are of the view since Nowhera Shaikh and Asaduddin Owaisi of MIM both depend on Muslim votes, and the ruling TRS too has a good support aming Muslims, Nowhera Shaikh's decision to contest Telangana state elections was a shocker for them.
Nowhera Shaikh had fielded candidates on all 224 seats of Karnataka. Though she did not win a single seat her high profile election campaign had caught the eyes of voters and also the media.
Meanwhile, cases are registered against Nowhera Shaikh in other places of the country also. Some advocates have also come out in the support of Heera Gold depositors and are appealing them to file FIR against Nowhera Shaikh in their areas.
