Malegaon Coronavirus: 4 new cases, 1 tests positive in Chandwad

Malegaon: Four more persons from the densely populated areas of powerloom city Malegaon have tested positive for novel Coronavirus, health officers said Thursday.

Another person, a 16-year-old, is reported to have been found infected with the deadly virus in Chandwad - some 35 kms from Malegaon.

With this total number of coronavirus infection in Malegaon jumped to 9, and Nashik district toll increased to 12, medical officers said.

"We had sent samples of 13 new people from Malegaon for clinical testing. Out of them 05 have been found infected with Covid-19. Reports of the remaning 08 are still awaited", a medical officer told ummid.com.

"One among those tested positive for Coronavirus is 27-year-old from Mahvi Nagar area of Malegaon while the other is 62-year-old woman from Apna Super Market area near the Old Agra Road", he added.

"Samples of another 35 people have also been sent for testing. Among the 35 whose samples have been sent for clinical testing are doctors and nurses of Malegaon General Hospital as per the protocol", he said.

Coronavirus outbreak spread in textile town Malegaon Wednesday when reports of 05 persons confirmed Covid-19 infection. One of them succumbed to the deadly virus.

The initial 05 corona positive cases in Malegaon were reported from Gulab Park, Mominpura, Kamalpura and Madinabad. The Health department had sealed the 4 mohallas after the virus outbreak.

Among the new cases reported Thursday, Mahvi Nagar and Apna Super Market areas - both densely populated, have emerged as the new corona hotspots in Malegaon.

"The new Coronavirus cases found in Malegaon Thursday are of those who were in contact with the old corona patients", the medical officer said.

Maharashtra on Thursday reported 25 new corona deaths and continued to be worst hit state in India.
