Ace football player Lionel Messi along with the Argentina football team is set to visit Kerala, the Sports Minister, V Abdurahiman said.

"King Leo is coming!" V Abdurahiman wrote on social media platform X, tagging the image of the footballer who had led Argentina to win the FIFA 2022 Football World Cup Championship.

"Get ready, Kerala — the wait might just be over.... Stay tuned. Magic is in the air", the Minister added.

The iamge of Messi that the minister has posted also had a line in Malayalam, "Messi varum tta," (Messi will come)" and "Thanks to Reporter Tv Broadcasting Co."

Reporter Tv Broadcasting Co is the firm entrusted to finalise the agreement with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) for the team's India tour.

According to the reports, Argentina football team if at all visits India, will play a friendly match in Kerala.

Match Venue

The minister has not confirmed the exact date and venue. However, he said that the likely date and time of Argentina football team to visit India is October/November this year.

"As per the FIFA window, October-November is the ideal period for such international friendlies which is likely for us as well," he said.

Responding to Kerala Sports Minister's X post, Anto Augustine, Managing Director of Reporter Broadcasting Company, wanted to know the venue of the proposed match.

"Evide kalikkum.... (where will they play)", Augustine wrote, re-tweeting the Minister's post.

Two weeks ago, talking to media, Augustine had suggested the venu to be either Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have two stadiums, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Whichever the government says meets AFA's requirements, we are ready to proceed," Augustine told reporters.
