Eid al Adha 2025 Moon Sighting India, Bangladesh: Eid al Adha will be celebrated across India and Bangladesh on Saturday June 07, 2025, it has been officially announced by the respective religious authorities in the two countries.
Earlier, Pakistan, Brunei, Afghanistan, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, and Malaysia had announced June 07, 2025 to be the first day of Eid al Adha.
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Indonesia, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, France, Philippines, Thailand, Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia, and Australia had announced to mark the first day of Eid Al Adha on June 6, 2025.
07:50 PM (IST): The New Moon pronouncing the beginning of the Holy Month of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH is sighted in various parts of India, including in Malegaon where the new moon was sighted by the masses.
An official announcement by Imarat e Shariyah Tuyat e Hilal Committee, New Delhi is expected any moment.
07:00 PM (IST): Eid al Adha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Saturday June 07, 2025, the Religious Affairs Ministry in Dhaka announced a short while ago.
It was announced at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee presided by Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid and held at the Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram on Wednesday (May 28) evening.
Meanwhile, Moon sighting committees in India have started their meeting. An announcement is expected any moment.
06:00 PM (IST): The Religious Affairs Ministry in Dhaka, Bangladesh has called a meeting today after Maghrib prayers to confirm the first day of Eid al Adha in the country.
The Markazi Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in New Delhi, India and Moon Sighting Committees in various states too have also called meeting to confirm the Dhul Hijjah Moon sighting after sunset today.
The official announcement in this regard is expected first by Bangladesh, and about half an hour later, by India.
10: 45 AM (IST): The Markazi Ruet-e-Hilal Committees or Moon Sighting Committees in India and Religious Affairs Ministry Bangladesh have appealed Muslims in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Dhaka and other parts of the two countries to sight the Dhul Hijjah Moon today i.e. Wednesday 29th of Dhulka'edah 1446 AH corresponding to May 28, 2025 to confirm the first day of Eid al Adha 1446 H.
Eid al Adha (also known as Bakra Eid, Eid uz Zuha in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and around) is celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah - the last month of the Islamic Calendar.
Moon Sighting Committees in India will meet today after Maghrib prayers. Official announcement will then be made by Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committees in the respective countries.
Similarly, a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee Bangladesh will be held at the Islamic Foundation office at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka. The meeting will be chaired by State Minister for Religious Affairs.
Eid al Adha will be celebrated in India and Bangaldesh on Saturday June 07, 2025 if the New Moon is sighted today. Else, the festival will be pushed to the next day i.e. Sunday June 08, 2025.
Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine and other Arab states will celebrate Eid al Adha on Friday June 06, 2025. This was confirmed by the Saudi Supreme Court.
The announcement was made after Eid al Adha Moon was spotted in many parts of the Kingdom on Tuesday.
While confirming Friday June 06, 2025 as the first day of Eid al Adha in the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia also said Day of Arafat (Youm ul Hajj) will be on Thursday June 05, 2025.
Meanwhile, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Pakistan after its meeting held in Islamabad Tuesday said Eid al Adha will be celebrated in the country on June 07, 2025.
Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) and Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) will also confirm today when Eid al Adha will be celebrated in Australia and Canada.
Similarly, Muslims in the United States (USA), United Kingdom (UK), New Zealand, Russia, France, Germany and other countries too will celebrate Eid al Adha either on Friday June 06, 2025 or Saturday June 07, 2025 based on confirmation by the religious authorities there.
Muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei will also decide the first day of Eid Al Adha 1446 H today.
