'Pakistan, politically incorrect solution of a communal problem'

New Delhi: Former Madhya Pardesh Governor Balram Jakhar today remembered freedom fighter Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, saying that he was not a leader of any particular section but the leader of India and worked dedicatedly to make it a developed nation.

Jakhar showered praises on Maulana Azad and called him one of the protagonists of Indian freedom struggle.

''It is not about Hindu or Muslim, it is about India,'' he recalled Maulana Azad's statement and said, ''He had passed away but had shown us the way which we all should follow.''

" The Maulana had always opposed the partition of India", former Governor said, adding, ''One day they (Muslims) will wake up and realise that they are an alien in their own land (Pakistan)."

Jakhar also gave away the Freedom Fighters Memorial Foundation award in his memory in Parliament House.

Besides Jakhar, noted journalist Kuldeep Nayar, former Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J P Aggarwal also graced the occasion.

Nayar said Maulana Azad fought for the Independence in real sense and always dreamed of a pluralistic and united country where the people of all religions lived together peacefully.

Speaking on the occasion,  Aggarwal said, ''The Maulana was an icon and inspiration for the people to fight for the independence of the country.''
