Jaipur: In a major setback for the ruling party, Congress defeated the BJP in Mandalgarh assembly constituency while maintaining a huge lead in Ajmer and Alwar Lok Sabha seats, according to the latest information coming from the Election Commission.
The reports coming from the counting centre said, Congress candidate Vivek Dhakad won the Mandalgarh assembly seat by over 12,000 votes.
The Congress maintains a lead of 53,000 votes in Ajmer and 74,060 votes in Alwar, according to the trends at 02:00 pm.
Counting of votes is still underway and final results are expected in few hours.

The Congress candidates in Ajmer, Alwar and also in Mandalgarh who were leading their rivals from BJP, have consolidated their lead margin, according to the trend at 12:15 pm.
According to the latest trend, Karan Singh Yadav of the Congress is now leading by 52,000 votes over BJP’s Jaswant Singh Yadav in Alwar.
Likewise in Ajmer, Raghu Sharma of the Congress is ahead of BJP's Ram Swaroop Lamba by 28,000 votes.
In Mandalgarh assembly constituency, Congress candidate Vivek Dhakad is ahead of his BJP rival by some 2,425 votes after the 15th round of counting.

The Congress candidates in Ajmer, Alwar and also in Mandalgarh are ahead of their rivals from BJP, according to the trend at 11:15 am.
According to the latest report Congress candidate Raghu Sharma is leading in Ajmer by over 21,000 votes. The BJP has fielded Ramswaroop Lamba, Sanwarlal Jat’s son in Ajmer.
In Alwar Lok Sabha bypolls, Karan Singh Yadav of Congress is leading by over 40,000 votes. The BJP BJP has fielded Jaswant Singh Yadav in Alwar.
In Mandalgarh assembly constituency, Congress candidate Vivek Dhakad is ahead of his BJP rival by some 115 votes.

As counting of votes is still underway, latest trends after initial rounds showed Congress candidates leading in Alwar and Ajmer parliamentary constituencies where by-elections were held on Monday January 29.
The trends available at 11:00 am also showed that BJP candidate is leading his rivals in Mandalgarh Assembly seat.
The Congress fielded Karan Singh Yadav from Alwar and Raghu Sharma in Ajmer. In Mandalgarh, the party has fielded Vivek Dhakad.
The battle for Ajmer is particularly a prestige battle for Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) chief Sachin Pilot, who represented Ajmer in the Lok Sabha from 2009 to 2014.
The bypolls in Ajmer were necessitated by the death of sitting BJP MP Sanwarlal Jat in August 2017. The BJP has fielded Ramswaroop Lamba, Sanwarlal Jat’s son.
The Congress, led by state chief Sachin Pilot, campaigned aggressively for the by-elections. It's a prestige battle for Mr Pilot, who was the Ajmer member of Parliament before he lost the seat to the BJP as a Modi wave swept the state.
In the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency, it is a clash of the Yadavs. While the BJP has fielded Jaswant Singh Yadav, Congress has fielded Karan Singh Yadav. Both candidates are doctors who belong to the Yadav community that holds significant sway in the Alwar seat.
