Madinah al Munawwarah: After the introduction of Manara robots, the Saudi Government has come out with smart medical capsules for Hajj pilgrims.
Installed by Madinah Health Cluster at many busy areas of The Prophet’s City, the smart medical capsules are aimed at enhancing healthcare services for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
These capsules offer multilingual medical care efficiently in key locations around the Prophet’s Mosque.
One capsule is stationed adjacent to Al-Salam Endowment Hospital, and the other is close to Al-Haram Hospital.
Designed to provide prompt field medical care with minimal waiting times, each capsule includes self-examination features, vital sign monitoring, and initial AI-assisted diagnostics.
Patients can communicate remotely with doctors, and the capsules are integrated into the health system to transmit medical data. In emergencies, patients are automatically referred to the nearest medical facility.
The user-friendly interface supports multiple languages, ensuring easy access to services for pilgrims from different backgrounds.
The Madinah cluster noted that the initiative is expected to reduce the pressure on nearby medical facilities, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of medical decision-making through real-time data analytics.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to support the Kingdom’s goal to offer top-notch health services to pilgrims.
The Kingdom had earlier introduced AI-powered Manara robots in the Grand Mosque in Makkah offering real-time religious guidance in 11 languages.
Supporting 11 languages, including Arabic, English, Urdu, Bengali, and Malay, the robot serves a wide array of the global Muslim community.
In a related development, King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah, a key part of the Makkah Health Cluster, has launched an advanced remote health monitoring service using smartwatches to support pilgrims, particularly those treated through the Seha Virtual Hospital, enhancing digital healthcare and ensuring continuous supervision of the pilgrims' well-being.
The KAMC is currently monitoring a pilgrim from Bangladesh who underwent urgent and successful surgery at its Cardiac Center following a severe heart attack. The specialized medical team now continues to track his condition remotely through vital indicators transmitted by a smartwatch, allowing him to complete his Hajj rituals with his group.
The innovative technology utilizes an advanced smartwatch designed to resemble a traditional one, ensuring patient privacy and comfort without drawing unwanted attention or causing feelings of isolation. This approach provides significant psychological reassurance, complementing critical medical care.
