Eild al Adha 2025: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the Dhul Hijjah Moon on Tuesday, the 29th day of the month of Dhu al Qaadah, corresponding to May 27, 2025, to confirm Eid al Adha 2025 and Hajj 1446H date.

The sighting of the moon will determine the exact date of Eid al-Adha and beginning of this year's Hajj rituals.

"The Supreme Court hopes anyone seeing the moon by the naked eye or the telescope to notify the nearest court and register a testimony or contact the nearest center to help him reach the nearest court," Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported citing the "Eid al Adha moon sighting" appeal issued by the Saudi Royal Court today.

"The court hopes that whoever has the sighting ability to take interest in the matter and join the committees formed for this purpose in different regions", it added.

The Supreme Court also expressed hope that those capable of sighting the moon will join the committees established for this purpose in various regions and participate in this effort, which benefits Muslims.

The Kingdom officially makes arrangement for moon sighting at its observatories in Sudair, Tumair and some other places. Government appointed officials spot the new moon here and accordingly the Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha moon announcements are made.

Second holiest festival of Muslims

If the Dhul Hijjah Moon is sighted on May 27 then the month of Dhul Hijjah will begin on Wednesday May 28, 2025. Accordingly, Eid al Adha, which is celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah, will be observed on June 06, 2025 and Youmul Hajj or Arafat Day will be on June 05, 2025.

If the New Moon is not sighted on Tuesday May 27, the next day will be counted as the 30th day of Dhu al Qadah, and the new month of Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 29, 2025. In such a situation, Eid al Adha, will be celebrated on June 07, 2025 and Youmul Hajj or Arafat Day will be on June 06, 2025.

Meanwhile, Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries will spot the Eid al Adha or Bakra Id Moon 2025 on Wednesday May 28, 2025 which aligns with 29th of Dhu al Qadah in the Indian Subcontinent.
