New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India Wednesday granted bail to Ashoka University Professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, who was arrested by Haryana Police over a Facebook post critical of right wing Hindutva groups.
Professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, Associate Professor at Ashoka University, had made the remarks highlighting the double standard of right wing groups in India after Operation Sindoor.
He was arresed by Haryana Police on Saturday May 18 based on the complaints of a BJP activist and Haryana Women's Commission Chief.
Prof Ali Khan was produced in a local court Tuesday which had sent him to 14-day Police remand.
A SC bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh, however, granted him bail Wednesday May 21, 2025.
The apex court granted Prof Ali Khan bail imposing three conditions that included not to write any article or online post or deliver any speech related to the case, won't comment on the Pahalgam attack or Operation Sindoor and will surrender his passport.
