Parliament’s Budget session to start from today

New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament will commence from today with an address by President Pratibha Patil to a joint sitting of both the Houses.
The address is expected to outline government’s plans and policies on key issues.
The BJP, the Left and other parties have demanded that a discussion on the burning problem of rising prices be taken up on the first working day of the three-month long session on Tuesday.
The BJP and the Left parties have indicated disruption of proceedings in case the issue of price rise was not taken up for discussion on February 23.
Opposition Leader Sushma Swaraj has said if the government agreed to a debate on the issue on the first working day, there will be no disruption.
The Railway Budget will be presented on February 24, while the General Budget would be presented on February 26.
The session would conclude on May 7. (ANI)
