'Urdu, language of civilization which nurtures virtues to develop rich culture’
New Delhi: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal today underscored the need for a new agenda to promote Urdu language and promised that lack of funds would not come in the way of achieving the task.
In his message on the occasion of the inauguration of the new building of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Sibal said the Council was playing its assigned role very well, but more needed to be done to revitalise a language that was so deeply linked with the cultural heritage of the country.
He said his Ministry was fully committed to give adequate funds to the Council to carry out its task.
His message was read out by Council Director Hameedullah Bhat.
Sibal was to inaugurate the 'Farogh-e-Urdu Bhawan' but could not come to the function because of some important official occupation. He was represented by Joint Secretary, Higher Education Anita Bhatnagar.
The function was presided over by noted Urdu journalist and Rajya Sabha Member Ahmad Saeed Malihabadi. Eminent Urdu critic and author Prof Gopi Chand Narang was prominent among those who spoke on the occasion.
