Aligarh: For the first time, Alak Al Hasni - an Iraqi girl, has won the first prize in the "On the Spot Sir Syed Essay Writing Competition 2013" organized on 'Relevance of Sir Syed Movement in 21st Century' in Aligarh on the 196th Birth Anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
The event was organised by the Aligarh Movement monthly magazine, Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) Aligarh & Media Centre Aligarh and was Sponsored by Alisha Publications Private Limited.
It was held at Arts Faculty in Aligarh Muslim University for school, college and university students. Large number of students had participated in the competition.
A panel of eminent teachers and intellectuals has evaluated the essays submitted by the competitors.
"It is for the first time in the history of Sir Syed Essay Writing Competition 2013 that an Iraqi Girl has won first prize", Jasim Mohammad, Editor of Aligarh Movement said while announcing the winners of the competition on Monday.
He said that an Iraqi Alak Al Hasni daughter of Abdul Sattar K. and a student of Class 10 in Aligarh Public School has won the First Prize in Junior section. The second and third prize went to Anjali Singh, student of class XII in Senior Secondary School (Girls) and Aseer Faizan, student of class VIII at Aligarh Public School respectively.
Likewise, he said, in the Senior section first prize went to a student of BALLB in AMU, Mina Mahmood Daughter of Samer Mahmoodand the second and third prize have been judged to Aquib Kamal of MA (Urdu) and Miss Roshni Kari of MA (Economics) in Social Science faculty, AMU respectively.
Jasim Mohammad said that Mohammad Saaim Khan of Dip. in Engg., Kainat Jamal of ABK Union High School, Miss Syeda Ayeman Mazhar of BUMS, Aiman Jabeen of AMU Girls High School, Zubeda M. Khan of Faculty of Law, AMU, Mehnaz Parveen of Islamia Degree College, Gulfishan Khan of Union High School, Nida Riyaz of ABK Union High School, Maryada Sharma of ABK Union High School and Mavash of Senior Secondary School (Girls), AMU have been awarded consolation Prize.
He further added that the winners will be presented award in the national seminar on 'Social and Educational Empowerment of Indian Muslims' to be held at Arts faculty Lounge, Aligarh Muslim University on Saturday, 26 October 2013 by the Prof. Ved Prakash, Chairman of University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
"Our aim is to spread knowledge about Sir Syed and his great mission among young generation and so we have held on the spot competition", Jasim Mohammad said,
"We have also launched a signature campaign for awarding 'Bharat Ratan' Award to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. He said all winners have to attend the seminar for receiving their awards", he said.
He also appealed to students to follow the path shown by Sir Syed and serve the nation and society.
