Mumbai: Contrary to expectations that pass percentage will go high after the Maharashrstra Education board decided to add Sports, Arts and Culture marks, the overall pass percentage of the 2017 SSC exams dipped recording the lowest in three years.
According to the quick analysis of the result released today, it was found that the overall pass percentage stood at 88.74%. This is a marginal drop of 0.8% compared to last year.
The state had recorded a pass percentage of 86.4% in 2016 and 87.7% in 2015.
Girls like in the past did better this year too with a pass percentage of 91.46% as against 86.51% of boys.
Earlier, hundreds of thousands of SSC students in Mahararashtra, who were uneasy because of the delay in their results, were up for a pleasant surprise Tuesday when the results were finally decalred and they saw Sports, Arts and Culture marks in their scorecards.
"I was a bit shocked when I saw 5 marks with $ sign in front of my total marks. I though I had been given grace marks. Then I read the below printed line which said it was my marks for Sports", Asad Faizee said while talking to ummid.com.
About 81,000 students in the state were awarded extra marks for Cultural Activities such as singing, dancing, and drawing. On the other hand, about 3,903 students were awarded Sports marks.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has declared online the results of Maharashtra board Class X (SSC also known as Class 10) 2017 exams on its official and associate websites today i.e. Tuesday June 13 at 01:00 pm.
It is said one of the many reason for the delay in result because the board was in the process of awarding extra marks for sports, arts and culture.

SImple steps to check Maharashtra SSC Class X results:
- Go to Maharashtra board result website by clicking here: www.mahresult.nic.in
- Enter your Roll Number (exam seat number) as given on the hall ticket
- Enter your mother's first name (Take care it is spelled properly)
- Click on View Result
- When results appears on screen save it and take a printout.
The Printed Marksheet by board will be given to students later on at the respective schools.
Maharashtra SSC Result through SMS:
The students can also request their results through SMS. For this, they are required to type MHSSC followed by <seat no> on their mobile phones and send to: 57766.
The Maharashtra SSC Class 10 results are normally declared in the first week of June. This year however the results are delayed.
Last year the Maharashtra SSC (also known as Class X and Class 10 SSC) results were declared on June 06, 2016. Hence rumours were abuzz that the the Maharashtra SSC result 2017 will also be declared on June 06. But the results were delayed.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the HSC 2017 results on Tuesday May 30.
The Maharashtra Class 10 exams were conducted from March 7 and ended on April 1. More than sixteen lakh from all across Maharashtra had appeared for the exams.
Students should note that the FYJC Admission 2017 will start soon. The process normally starts within few days after the Maharashtra SSC results are declared and students are in possession of their printed marksheets.
