NEET 2017

New Delhi:
Hours after obtaining permission from the Supreme Court to declare the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - UG (NEET 2017) results, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday announced that it will release the OMR Sheets of the candidates on June 13 and Official Answer Keys on June 15.

"The images of OMR Answer Sheets and Responses to the questions marked by the candidates who had appeared in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG), 2017 will be displayed for challenges by the candidates, only for two days instead of three days as mentioned in Information Bulletin", the CBSE said in a statement released today.

"The Answer keys of NEET-UG 2017 will also be displayed for challenges by the candidates only for two days instead of three days as mentioned in Information Bulletin", the CBSE further said.

In case of an issue, candidates can challenge the OMR sheets or Answer Keys.

"The candidates willing to challenge the responses of their OMR sheet and answers prepared by CBSE may do so by paying a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) per response/per question challenged as explained in the Information Bulletin - 2017 available on NEET website.

"Only online challenges within the stipulated period and with applicable fee will be considered. Fee paid will be refunded to the candidate if his/her challenge is accepted by the CBSE", the board said.

The CBSE announcement regarding the release of OMR sheets and Answer Keys came hours after the Supremce Court of India directed the board to declare the result of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - UG (NEET 2017) as early as possible.

"High courts shouldn't have interfered as it affects the schedule of the admission," a SC bench comprising Justice Prafulla C. Pant and Justice Deepak Gupta said today.

The Supreme Court also barred the high courts in the country from entertaining any petition on the entrance examination held for admission to various medical courses.

The bench also observed that the high court's order was "indirectly diluting the schedule" fixed by the apex court.

The SC order came after the CBSE approached the country's top court following a stay by Madras High Court on declaration of NEET 2017 result.

The CBSE in the Information Bulletin had fixed June 08 as the tentative date to declare the NEET 2017 result. Before that the candidates' OMR sheet and NEET 2017 Official Answer Keys should have been released.

However the CBSE neither released the OMR Sheet of the students nor the NEET 2017 Answer Keys in time. The delay was because of the petitions filed in Madras High Court by some students and their parents who said the NEET 2017 English and Hindi question papers were different from the ones in other languages and hence the test cannot be a basis for admission to various medical courses.

In response to these petitions, the Madras High Court on May 24 stayed the result declaration of NEET 2017.
