London: About two months after condemning the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza without mincing words, Hollywood actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie exposed the 'ugly reality' of global affairs, also saying all talks of human rights are farce and the world is actually ruled by business interests.
Speaking with Syrian Journalist and Filmmaker Waad Al Kateab, Jolie said that 20 years ago, when she began working internationally, she had a notion of “good guys”, whether they were specific countries or individuals, but later experience revealed that she was wrong.
Decrying how injustice prevails and justice is sought for one group of people, but not for other groups, something she said is present "even in the UN."
“If these are human rights sometimes for these people, may be sometimes for these people, and never for these people”, she said.
“It’s food aid. 6% for these people, 50% for these people. It’s justice for these people, but not for these people. Accountability for this crime but not that crime”, she added.
“The reality is that the world operates based on business interests," she said.
Jolie said that she found this "disheartening" and "upsetting" especially "as someone who has witnessed war crimes first hand."
Speaking to Academy Award®-nominated director Waad al-Kateab, Angelina Jolie talks about the double standards she's witnessing on a global scale.

Angelina Jolie interview came about two months after she condemned the massacre of Palestinians at the hands of the Israeli Occupation Forces.
In a post on Instagram on Nov 2, Jolie, who is also an activist routinely writing on human rights issues, said, “Gaza an open air prison” is now on the verge of becoming a “mass grave”.
“40 per cent of those killed are innocent children. Whole families are being murdered. While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians - children, women, families - are being collectively punished and dehumanised, all while being deprived food, medicine and humanitarian aid against international law”, she wrote on Instagram.
In an earlier post on social media, Angelina Jolie while condemning the Hamas attack in Israel pointed out that “the Hamas attack cannot justify the innocent lives lost in the Israeli bombings”.
