It should however be noted that the final and confirmed date of Eid al Adha 2025 and Arafat Day 2025 (Youm ul Hajj 2025) will be confirmed only on 29th of Dhu al Qadah 1446 AH after sighting of the New Moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah.

The Eid al Adha Crescent Moon 2025 will be sighted on Tuesday May 27, 2025 which is 29th Dhu al-Qaadah 1446. If the Dhul Hijjah Moon is sighted on May 27 then the month of Dhul Hijjah will begin on Wednesday May 28, 2025.

Accordingly, the Eid al Adha, celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah, will be observed on June 06, 2025 and Youmul Hajj or Arafat Day will be on June 05, 2025.

If the New Moon is not sighted on Tuesday May 27, the next day will be counted as the 30th day of Dhu al Qadah, and the new month of Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 29, 2025. In such a situation, Eid al Adha, will be celebrated on June 07, 2025 and Youmul Hajj or Arafat Day will be on June 06, 2025.

Meanwhile, Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries will spot the Eid al Adha or Bakra Id Moon 2025 on Wednesday May 28, 2025 which aligns with 29th of Dhu al Qadah in the Indian Subcontinent.

This is i.e. sighting of the New Moon to start counting the new moon, is the tradition of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him).

Meanwhile, more than half a million pilgrims from around the world – 607,747 as per the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah, have already arrived in the Kingdom via land, air and seaports to perform Hajj.

This represent about 42% of the total expected pilgrim visas for this year. Combined with the domestic pilgrims, around 2 million pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and abroad will throng The Two Holy Cities in the next 15 days.

In a related development, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah Monday inspected a number of sites in the Holy Sites and reviewed the readiness of facilities, infrastructure, and services provided to pilgrims, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. To perform Hajj once in a lifetime is mandatory on every adult Muslim – man or woman, who is healthy and can afford the travel cost.
