Malegaon: A senior councilor of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Asaduddin Owaisi during the Malegaon mayor and deputy mayor elections on Wednesday lost his cool when asked a simple question, and started abusing and threatening the correspondent present to cover the event.

Yunus Isa, popularly called as Yunus Dada, which if translated in plain terms means a gunda or a goon, was furious when asked him to explain the AIMIM’s tactic support to the Congress and Shiv Sena when the party had fought the election against them.

“The AIMIM had made corruption and communalism big issues in the Malegaon elections. The AIMIM party chief had repeatedly asked people of Malegaon not to handover the rein of the civic body to the people who had looted it. How do you explain the party’s tactical backing to Congress and Sena”, asked the AIMIM house leader Khaled Pervez and son of Yunus Dada.

As Khaled Pervez tried to answer the question, Yunus Dada, who was standing with him, became furious and started abusing and threatening the correspondent with dire consequence.

“How dared you ask such a question? Did you ask the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) why it struck a deal with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)?” Yunus Dada said and started hurling abuses which neither suited the person of his age nor the AIMIM of Asaduddin Owaisi who is famous for invoking Quran and Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and high moral standards in his speeches.

The AIMIM hooliganism did not end here but continued outside the Municipal corporation building where the AIMIM Malegaon President Abdul Malik Yunus Isa again approached the correspondent and told not to raise such a question.

The run-up to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections, Malegaon witnessed an unusual political alignment of Congress and Shiv Sena, and that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Janata Dal (S) plus Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Talks were also abuzz in the city that the AIMIM Malegapn had also entered into an understanding with the Congress and Shiv Sena.

Though the AIMIM leadership was silent and continued telling that they would open their cards in the house, the 07 coprorators of Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) abstained from the voting and tactically helped the Congress - Shiv Sena combine to sail through in the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections.

The fact that the AIMIM had prior understanding with the Congress and Shiv Sena for the Myor and Deputy Mayor election also came to fore when Shaikh Rasheed after winning the Mayor election appreciated the support extended by the AIMIM members.

Shaikh Rasheed especially mentioned the name of AIMIM corporator Yunus Isa at least 03 times in his post-election press address, saying he had the backing of experienced corporators like him and they would together work for the develpoment of Malegaon.

Earlier while the election process was still on, AIMIM coporator Yunus Isa, who was sitting next to Shaikh Rasheed of Congress in the house, was the first to shake hand with the latter and congratulate him on becoming Malegaon Mayor.

Also, Congress supporters who entered the house after the election results were declared garlanded AIMIM House Leader Khaled Yunus Isa for what they called supporting the "Congress and Shiv Sena to win the Malegaon Mayor and Deputy Mayor election".
