FYJC Admission 2025: Even as the Maharashtra Sports and Education Department is working hard to make the Class 11 or FYJC 2025 Online Admission Process a smooth affair demands are gaining momentum to revert back to the offline mode.
The Maharashtra Education Department has been conducting online admission process for FYJC and Class 11th in Mumbai MMR since 2009-10, that was later extended to Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad (discontinued in 2022) and Amravati in 2013-14.
The department, however, has decided to conduct admission for Class 11 or Junior Colleges across Maharashtra in online mode via a centralized CAP Round Process from the academic year 2025-26, as per a government notification.
The CAP Round based centralised process is intended to be held for admission in 9,281 Junior Colleges of Maharashtra having over 20 lakh seats in Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
Accordingly, the department launched a special website for the purpose and asked colleges to register. Simultaneously, the department said online registration of students will begin on May 19, 2025.
However, in a last minute change, the department said Mock Registration will be conducted from May 19 to 20, and actual registration will start on May 21, 2025.
But, due to heavy rush of the students, server crashed in few hours after the registration process began at 11:00 AM on May 21, 2025. Due to this, the department was forced to suspend the admission process and revise the schedule.
Tired of the dilly-dallying and technical issues, parents and teachers’ associations are urging the Maharashtra government to revert back to the offline mode of FYJC admission.
In the letters written to Maharashtra Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers and Education Minister, the parents and teachers’ associations have threatened to launch a stir if their demand to make Class 11 admission process offline is not met.
Maharashtra State Junior College Teachers’ Federation in its letter has specially apprised the Chief Minister and others of the difficulties the students in rural areas are facing due to the online process.
“There are many areas in the state where there is no internet network. Moreover, parents in these areas have very little and inadequate knowledge of the online admission process. It is therefore urged to revert back to the offline admission process”, the federation said.
Similar demands have also been raised by other organisations who said the online mode will make the admission process complicated and expensive.
"Many parents who do not have computers at home will be required to depend on Cyber Cafes. Thus making the process constlier", they said.
The Maharashtra School Education and Sport Department has not commented yet on these demands. It has however published the revised schedule in a single line message scrolling on the website.
“Student Registration will start from May 26, 2025”, the one-line notification on the FYJC Admission website “mahafyjcadmissions.in” said.
The Maharashtra Sports and Education Department has published a detailed Information Booklet explaining in complete details with the help of flow charts and graphics the admission process, registration process, details of CAP Rounds.
The 77-page FYJC Admission Information Booklet in PDF is available in Marathi and English languages.
As per the Information Booklet, there will be a total 04 Rounds - Zero Round plus 04 CAP Rounds.
"Special or Open Rounds will be conducted if the seats remain vacant after the conclusion of regular rounds", the Maharashtra Education Department said.
Round-wise admission schedule is yet to be published.
