Kolkata woman approaches police against husband's abuse
Thursday August 1, 2013 11:01 PM, IANS

A newly-married woman Thursday filed a complaint with police alleging she was repeatedly sexually abused by her husband who also threatened to circulate her private pictures if she failed to bring dowry.

"My client was repeatedly tortured and abused by her husband and his family asking for dowry. The husband even threatened to make public some of her private pictures," said the victim's advocate Anirban Guhathakurta.

Both the husband and his family incidentally have fled the house after driving away the 32-year-old victim.

"They kicked out my sister from their house last month and after a few days they too have gone missing. Even the BPO firm where the husband said he was attached to, are not aware of any employee by that name," said the victim's sister.

"My sister married Anirban Dutta in May and since then he has been sexually abusing her. My sister says he was a sadist and used to torture her and if she resisted, he would go mad and hit her mercilessly. They continuously used to harass her for dowry," the sister said.

"We have filed a police complaint and hope they would soon find out the whereabouts of the husband and his family and punish them," added the sister.
