The prophet Muhammad created the first toothbrush in 600 CE. It is believed he used twigs from the Miswak tree to clean his teeth.

Around 1000 CE, Al Zahrawi created a 1500-page encyclopedia of surgery that was used in Europe for the next 500 years. He reportedly performed the first C-section.
